The scene to the right was actually an add-on the director thought of. Pseudolus presents the show to the audience as a comedy, only to be met by a tragic death scene. The curtain falls and the number continues. The bit was too good to pass up, and that mentality of "go big or go home" permeated every aspect of this production. From the costumes, to the set, to the characters and jokes. We turned to commedia dell'arte as a base for our characters and took inspiration from Las Vegas for the bold colors and lights. Senex was quite the character to work with. I remember trying to find his character walk and balancing that with the sprightly choreography for "Everybody Ought to Have a Maid."
