DEAD MAN WALKING
Written & Adapted by
Tim Robbins
Directed by
Kathleen Juhl
This was my first speaking role in a Southwestern main stage production. It was a new experience for me and ended up being an effective introduction to the theatre department. In addition to my two speaking roles, I served as part of the ensemble, who would fill out roles, serve as partial set crew, and occasionally "bear witness," as the director put it, to the events on stage. I, along with the rest of the cast, was also very privileged to have dinner with the real Sister Helen Prejean. We talked about the show, her activism towards abolishing the death penalty, and her life as a spiritual adviser. It was a unique and valuable experience.

Promotional Video
One day, the Director of the Sarofim School of Fine Arts Administration approached me and asked if I had any interest in videography. She offered me a job to put together promotional videos for upcoming theatre productions. I happily agreed, and at the time, Dead Man Walking was in rehearsals, so I had the perfect first assignment. While I couldn't get video footage in time, I was able to select of few actors and choice lines to put together as a voice over. It was the first time I had directed other people in voice over. I also made an original logo for the show, and I was so excited, I ended up editing the whole video in one night. I would make several more videos like this in the future, but I still think this is the best one.

Below is a short review written for a class. The assignment was to choose an area of theatre design (i.e. costume, lighting) and critique its use in service to the production. We reflected on the director and designers' concept presentations, what their goals were for the production and how it would take shape. This review offers constructive criticism on whether the design choices that were made were successful and why.
